"AMFM 2007 Conference" - Eric and Jennifer Garcia

It’s been a month since our annual conference and we are still walking around in the clouds. This conference surpassed all our expectations and was the best yet for AMFM.

Each year we anticipate what God is going to do-will it be as good as the past conferences? Will God once again show Himself faithful?

God did just that, showing Himself through the Carmel Baptist Staff with their gracious attitudes of service and in the warmth of the generous presenters who again produced phenomenal workshops. However, God also moved in the hearts of the attendees in ways we had not seen before.

Pearls
Pearls Of Wisdom - Focusing Your Life

"Planning for Success" - by Bobb Biehl

Does your team have a plan . . . a plan of what it could be and how it will get there?  When I started Masterplanning Group, a consulting firm, in 1976 I asked 15-20 people, “How important is it to have a plan for your organization?”  Everyone immediately answered, “Oh, very important.”  I said, “Great, can I see a copy of yours?”

The responses were all very similar, “Well, didn’t we have a copy around here somewhere?  I sort of lost track of it.”  What I began to see was that part of the reason people don’t have plans is that they don’t really know what goes into a plan.  They don’t know what the critical elements of a plan are.

Leadership
Leadership

"The Black Box of Greatness in a Leader" - by Bruce McNicol

In 2001, the bestseller Good To Great gifted all of us leading marriage and family ministries with a groundbreaking discovery. Against prevailing opinion, author Jim Collins unearthed the fact that a Level 5 Leader—a great leader—needs only two essential qualities! Humility + Professional Will.

In 1999, two years before Good to Great was released, our TrueFaced team released The Ascent of a Leader in which we asserted that humility was the essential first rung to becoming a 5th Rung Leader. We used this Biblical word, even after our secular publisher asked that we find another term, because they said “humility is just too soft a word for the leadership and business communities.” But, they didn’t know Good To Great was coming, nor did we. We’re relieved that we didn’t give in to the request of our respected publisher! Humility is the right word.

Prayer
Prayer

"Prayer is the Conduit" - by Jennifer Kennedy Dean

Many people feel that prayer had failed them when life brings disappointment and difficulty. I have had this question addressed to me time and time again, in one form or another: “If prayer really works, then why did this hard, disappointing experience happen to me?”

Let me remind you of the purpose of prayer: Prayer is the conduit through which the power and provision of God flow into the circumstances of earth. Prayer is NOT a mantra or a set of magic “abra-cadabra” words that will transform all of life into a fairy tale that you author. Prayer is bigger and better than that.
