A Message from Eric and Jennifer

"A Penny Saved"

Most of us can recall a particular person who always provided motivation in the form of an encouraging word or a pat on the back. Maybe it was the school teacher who believed in you even though you had doubts about what you could achieve. Perhaps it was an adult friend that saw potential in your character that would become the driving force behind the person you are today.  Oftentimes, their words can influence not only our self-esteem, but also our career path. My (Jennifer) dad is that person in my life; a strong prophet, yet the most humble man I know.  He gave me a foundation of Faith that keeps me strong today.

This month we would like to share a story about the world-renowned man whose legacy continues due to the words of a song that inspired him to keep moving on.  Excerpted from a book by Caron Loveless, The Words that Inspired the Dreams.

Pearls
Pearls Of Wisdom - Focusing Your Life

"Asking Questions" - by Bobb Biehl

About twenty years ago, I began to ask and collect questions, just as some people collect stamps or antiques.  I hope you, too, will make collecting and asking questions a lifelong hobby, because questions are essential to gaining knowledge and understanding.

If you and I could talk about any situation – what would you want to discuss?  With that situation focused clearly in your mind, let’s work through the questions I would ask.

WHAT?  WHEN?  WHO?  HOW?  WHERE?  WHY?

Leadership
Leadership

"Environments of Grace" - by Bruce McNicol

Before you learn how to develop environments of grace that can heal unresolved life issues you need the energy that springs from believing a rare assumption about environments in general: Environments are more powerful than words, when the two conflict. This is due to a simple law of communication which states that when two forms of communication conflict, the one that is most crafted is least believed. When you say you believe, but act like you don’t, people believe the latter.

Another variation of this law states that, “What we see defeats what we hear.” Words are powerful for building up or tearing down. But, you will believe what you see in the community (how people actually live with one another) more than what you hear them saying. St Francis of Assisi applied this law to the Gospel when he said, “Preach Christ always, and if necessary use words.”

Prayer
Prayer

"Trust and Obey" - by Jennifer Kennedy Dean

"Follow my decrees and be careful to obey my laws, and you will live safely in the land. Then the land will yield its fruit, and you will eat your fill and live there in safety” (Lev. 25:18-19).

God’s desire is for your good. He wants you to live the abundant life that He has made available in Christ. The Promised Land of the Old Testament Scriptures was a foreshadowing of the full and rich spiritual life into which Jesus has ushered us. The promises of God belong to you. By making promises to you, He is telling you what He has for you and what He wants you to experience. Prayer is accessing the promises of God.
