Do you remember a parting of the Red Sea type event in your life, a modern day miracle of God that stops you dead in your tracks? Did it stop you in such a way that you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that you had nothing to do with it, and it was all God?

About 1.2 million Christian young adults graduate from high school each year. Statistics vary, but those in the Youth Transition Network believe that approximately 840,000 of these graduates wave good-bye to the church each year!

Why do they leave? The church, the home, and the school all contribute to this statistic. The home is perhaps the most dominant of these three major systems to shape a young adult’s worldview, values, relationships, and pursuits. Consider the role a truefaced environment can play in reversing this statistic.

"Let Peace Begin with Me" - by Jennifer Kennedy Dean

During this Christmas season, I have found myself captured by the words of the classic hymn, “Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.” Words probably derived from the Prayer of St Fancis of Assissi, “Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace.”

As we live in the midst of strife and anger, what would it mean to be an instrument of His peace?

Our world is more than ever defined by our conflicts. Accusations, punches and counter-punches, rhetoric growing increasingly shrill until reason and truth are left trampled. Collateral damage in the war of slogans and talking points.

Bring the focus in tighter. Little arguments, petty responses later regretted, disagreements blown out of proportion, hurt feelings nurtured and fed.

Let peace begin with me.
